Hrithik's first role in a movie was in the 1980 movie Aasha, where he played a small, uncredited role of a boy dancing. After that, he did a little supporting work to his director dad. While supporting his dad in the movie 'Karan Arjun', the main lead of the film - Salman Khan advised Hrithik to try his hand on acting. It is said that Salman, an already established superstar, gave him tips and lessons in body-building and acting.

He achieved fame overnight when he starred in Kaho Naa... Pyar Hai opposite debutante starlet Amisha Patel. It was directed by his father. Hrithik catapulted to superstar status overnight. He was tipped as the 'next big thing' after Shah Rukh Khan in the industry. However, a lot of the initial euphoria has died down as his later movies have not been as successful, with the exception of the megahit "Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham" in 2001 and the 2003 blockbuster "Koi... Mil Gaya"(also of Mr. Rakesh Roshan).

He is married to Suzanne Khan, daughter of actor Sanjay Khan. Hrithik says he has been dating Suzanne since he was in class VIII. Hrithik has been hardly linked with any other actress in the industry, and is regarded as one of the most subtle and down-to-earth star.

Like most other stars in Bollywood, Hrithik also manages to earn loads of bucks through stage shows. His first successful and largely hyped stage appearancewas at Lux Zee Cine Awards in 2001.

He is currently working on a sequel to Koi... Mil Gaya with his father, Rakesh Roshan the movie has now been officially named KKrish. It is said that Hrithik has six diffrent looks in the film and plays a superhero.He has taken rigrous training in martial arts for the action sequences in the film.The movie wil also star Priyanka Chopra.
